Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems
  • Install, repair, and maintain domestic and commercial, plumbing fixtures and systems
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors
  • Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings
  • Measure, cut, bend and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines
  • Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
  • Assist with material handling
  • Always maintain clean working area, perform housekeeping duties on site
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Journeyman Plumber or Plumbing Red Seal certificate
  • Must have a minimum of 1 - 3 year of experience
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work.
  • Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and make simple calculations to read survey stakes and calculate areas and volumes.
  • Skilled in the use and care of hand and small power tools associated with the work.
  • Ability to understand and interpret plans & specifications
  • Desire to coach, train and assist crew with completing quality work.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple team members and interpret their needs

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and/or be on their feet 8 hours/day
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Use proper lifting techniques for heavy pipes weighing more than 25 kilograms
  • Must be able to work in outdoor weather and/or unregulated temperatures for 10-12 hours/day
