Technology and Marketing teams spearhead initiatives such as a new eCommerce platform, Data Lake, CRM & ERP, and other future-focused Hotel and Restaurant technologies.

Opportunity Northland is looking for an IT Project Manager (Technical) responsible for assisting with various technical projects, business requirements gathering, and documentation. This position involves preparing and managing project schedules, budgets, and expenditures, organizing and facilitating stakeholder engagement meetings, and ensuring project deadlines are met. The role will also need to identify business and technical system needs for various digital transformation projects. The position is technical, and to succeed, the candidate must be comfortable with current technology trends and provide real-world experience with technology solutions that meet or exceed business expectations.

This position is based in Vancouver, Canada, and will work under the IT department but will liaise with all other departments to assess, refine, and identify technical solutions that will deliver positive results for the business. This position will be reporting to the Director, Project Delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and managing project plans, schedules, budgets, and expenditures in coordination with Project Team
  • Eliciting and documenting business and technical requirements, performing gap analysis, validating requirements in consultation with stakeholders
  • Organizing, attending and facilitating meetings and workshops with stakeholders
  • Documenting and following up on necessary action items and decisions from meetings, distributing minutes to all project team members
  • Maintaining a project management calendar for fulfilling each goal and objective
  • Gathering critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and producing useful reports
  • Preparing necessary presentation materials for meetings and workshops to engage internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring projects adhere to frameworks and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project
  • Staying up to date on the latest process and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems
  • Effectively communicate your insights and project plans to cross-functional team members and management
  • Working closely with clients, technicians, and managerial staff to prioritize project initiatives based on business needs and undertake project tasks as required
  • Developing test scripts, performing functional and user acceptance testing as required
  • Providing administrative support as needed

Skills & Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in business or related field or an MBA or related experience
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience of technical Project Management experience
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Advanced technical comprehension skills
  • The ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions
  • Experience creating detailed reports and giving presentations
  • Competency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Creative thinker with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy with strong analytical skills
  • High-level communication skills with the ability to present information to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience in hospitality and retail industry preferred
  • PMP certification is an asset
