Accounts Payable Manager

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience with process improvements. You will be a hands-on leader who develops and motivates their team. This position will supervise a team of 8-10 and will report to the Manager of Finance Operations.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Manage all aspects of the A/P process, including vendor set up, management of weekly payment processes (Wire, ACH, EFT, cheques).
  • Manage Accounts Payable team by recruiting coaching, development and disciplining employees.
  • Effectively manages overall resources and adjust as required.
  • Help improve efficiencies by creating/implementing policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Direct Payables experience/skills including large ERP payables system, PO/receipts matching, automated approval workflows, scanning and OCR, integrated invoice/PO source systems
  • Process / automation experience/skills including process analysis and change, process measurement and KPI's, continuous improvement methodology, and automation through RPA's
  • Communicates as required with internal and external stakeholders regarding all transactional services provided by the department.
  • Prepare monthly, weekly, and yearly reports (AP aging and other KPIs as required) - should be system generated
  • Manages and co-ordinates off-site record retention.
  • Reviews and follows all procedures & policies and recommends updates to documentation accordingly.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • 5+ years of high-volume AP experience and leading teams
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or CPA preferred or equivalent experience
  • Retail or Hospitality industry an asset
  • Process improvements and implementation of new ERP an asset
  • Ability to communicate well both written and orally
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of and experience in using Microsoft Excel.
  • Superior attention to detail
