Job Summary:

This role will report to the Director of Construction and is responsible for leading construction projects (hotels, restaurants, resort expansions) in the Western regions of Canada (British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan) in the total value of $75MM and above. The successful candidate should have a well-rounded knowledge of construction and be familiar with working with project managers leading new construction and expansion projects, providing oversight and direction to cross-discipline team members working with both office and site-based employees. Duties will include overseeing the implementation of the project plans, schedules, being aligned with the budget. To be successful as a Regional Construction Manager, you will need to be able to work on tight deadlines, have excellent problem-solving skills, with exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for the successful delivery of the new and expansion construction projects implemented in the western regions of Canada.
  • Ensure to be within the remit of the determined project budget, and time commitments.
  • Set up a team, assign duties, and determine the roles and responsibilities of the team members.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor a cohesive self-performing team.
  • Contribute to the ongoing continuous improvement process for ongoing or potential future projects.
  • Assess project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
  • Ensure stakeholder views are managed towards the best solution.
  • Ensure compliance with project efforts with the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.

Essential requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the field.
  • Min of 8 years' experience in managing large, complex construction projects, particularly those involving hotel construction would be a significant asset.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in recruiting and setting up teams.
  • Extensive knowledge in local jurisdictions for western regions of Canada.
  • Excellent communicator with deep people leadership experience who can coordinate a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to focus on multiple projects simultaneously with exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience in the hotel and restaurant construction.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team as well as leading a team.
  • Experience in leading cross-cultural people.
  • Ability to work and succeed in tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work with high integrity.
  • Competency in Office 365 including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Owning or operating your own business would be a significant asset.
  • Being familiar with various software or computer programs would be an additional asset.
