Job Summary:

The Interior Designer is responsible for providing interior design management expertise for the planning and executing new build and renovation hospitality projects, with necessary oversight and direction to cross-discipline team members, including hotel and restaurant operations and site-based employees. The responsible person will work with an interior design team to achieve high standards, meeting budget and operations expectations. Duties would include; the design, management, and monitoring of interior design projects and project teams, preparing schedules budgets, organizing and participating in design and construction meetings, and ensuring that project deadlines and budgets are met promptly. To be successful as a Interior Designer, you will need to be able to work on tight deadlines, have exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, have problem-solving and prioritization skills and have the ability to seamlessly move from active project to active project.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly creative, collaborative team while working on the hotel, restaurant, and resort interior projects across various locations across Canada and the United States.

Key accountabilities:

  • Min of 5 years of related experience, with a strong understanding of the design and construction process.
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or another design-related field.
  • Experience working on hospitality (Hotel, Resort, and Restaurant) projects.
  • Highly organized and strong experience in using tools that support work efficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills, along with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a highly motivated team of skilled individuals.
  • Strong ability to establish and balance project resource demands and timelines.
  • Strong understanding of and ability to oversee interior design package deliverables consistent with Northland standards.
  • Extensive experience with AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, Sketchup, and Office 365 (including Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Experience with leading and mentoring multiple interior design teams.
  • Being passionate about Interior Design.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.

Desirable requirements:

  • NCIDQ certification.
  • A demonstrated technical and detailing skillset with a high level of attention to detail on all of your work
  • A demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and within required time constraints.
  • Ability to focus on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with high integrity.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to be self-motivated / take initiative and to think independently.
  • Working knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada, the BC Building Code, The International Building Code, and relevant accessibility standards and codes.
  • An eagerness to learn and to gain new experience.
